HOMELESS

Homeless

Building more buildings will not help the  homeless. Rents will be so high, our homeless can’t pay for them. As renters move away, our homeless can’t pay the rent in the new vacancies.

Some homeless people need to be off the streets and in long term medical and mental health facilities.

Some homeless are alcohol and drug abusers

Some homeless want to work again.

Some homeless choose to live on the streets.

All it takes is money.

Money for really low rent cost housing

Money for long term care health facilities

Money for drug and alcohol treatment programs

Homelessness will be with us for a long time.

The enormous wealth of the few, trickles down to less money for the poor.

When the economy is more just, the homeless  will get homes or at least place to stay off the streets.

WORSHIP

 Worship

The dictionary definition is “Worship is the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration….”  Worship is to whom we give our worth. Worthiness, acknowledgement of worth is worship. God and Jesus are the objects of our worship. The power of the universe, the ground of all being, being itself are  also what we worship.

We have a sense of sanctity, holiness derived through liturgy, meditation and prayer. Life and the universe is a mystery to be experienced and explained. The sense of awe and inspiration viewing great art listening to music enters in. Nature, animals, mountains and oceans inspire.

Viewing the great statue of David in Venice, hearing the Tuba Mirum from the Berlioz Requiem filled me with awe. The haunting power of the Eucharist is holiness. The power of deep sex emerges from within us.

My sense of the holy, the sacred and metaphysical comes and goes. It is never intense or even emotional. It is presence, essence and peace. It is an awareness of just the way it is. Wholeness and holiness awaken the sense of the beyond science or rationality. It is a sense of peace with myself and the universe.

The result of worship is accepting the inevitable and fighting for justice. The result of that inner peace is the willingness to follow Jesus.
